AGM 2024 & Autumn Presentation
at Purley Barn

Wednesday, 9th October from 18.30pm

We welcome you to an evening of presentation and discussion on the theme of conservation in historic landscapes, the importance of wildlife, bio - diversity and evolving themes for 2025.

These topics are central to our purpose and so it is entirely appropriate that we have an expert speaker for our presentation who can bring them to life and inspire us all.

Daniel Steel CEnv, MArborA will give the presentation. Daniel is a conservationist, garden history and landscape manager, master arborist, horticulturist and is steeped in the experience of historic landscape management.

We are delighted that Dan will spend the evening with us; he has over ten years’ experience in arboriculture and land management, trained at the nationally important Westonbirt Arboretum and is qualified in horticulture design, arboriculture, green waste management and conservation.

Dan is currently the Senior gardener at the grade I listed Royal Holloway University, founded in 1879, and was previously manager at the Royal Parks, The Regents Park & Primrose Hill, and continued on to manage the Longford River, built for King Charles I in 1639, a historic and ecologically valuable river system.

Prior to that he was Forest Ranger for the Crown Estate at Windsor Great Park. He is a Chartered Environmentalist and has the RHS Diploma in Horticulture. His entire career has been spent in conserving the natural and cultural heritage of landscapes.

We can expect to hear insights on all this as well as uncovering Victorian water pipes, rare beetles, being a UK Green Flag judge and much more.  It is with great appreciation and a privilege for us to have Dan as our speaker for the evening.
