FIRST SPRING VISIT
CELEBRATING SPRING GARDENS IN BERKSHIRE
GUIDED TOUR OF COMPTON ELMS, PINKNEYS GREEN, MAIDENHEAD, BERKSHIRE, SL6 6NR
2.30 Tuesday 11th March 2025
To chase away the winter, we are very pleased to welcome you to an early Spring tour of the beautiful gardens at Compton Elms, with the current owner Alison Kellett. Following an introductory talk for us, Alison will take us around the garden and has kindly arranged for tea and cake afterwards.
Compton Elms is a delightful spring garden set in a sunken woodland, lovingly recovered from clay pit workings. This atmospheric garden is filled with snowdrops, primroses, hellebores and fritillaria, interspersed with anemone and narcissi under a canopy of ash and beech.
The spring garden was created out of one of the clay pits by the original owner - as an Italian garden. However this was lost through the 20th century and is being recreated by the current owner. Our private visit will include:
-
Introductory talk from 2.30pm
-
A guided tour of the garden
-
Tea and cakes
