THIRD SPRING VISIT
CELEBRATING SPRING GARDENS IN BERKSHIRE
OUR UNIQUE PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR OF THE SPRING GARDENS AT WINDSOR CASTLE, WINDSOR, BERKSHIRE. SL4 1NJ
2.00pm Tuesday 8th April 2025

By kind permission of His Majesty The King, and the Constable and Governor, Lieutenant General (Retd) Phil Jones; Berkshire Gardens Trust is delighted to have been invited to visit the gardens of Windsor Castle. This is the first of two visits this year. The second will be on Tuesday, 10th June (booking details to be announced later).
Windsor Castle was built by William the Conqueror in the 1070s and The King’s Herbary was referred to in the early 12th Century.
Whenever one visits Windsor Castle, one can always be assured of beautifully tended green spaces. The guiding hand and leadership is Adam Scott, Gardens and Nursery Manager for Windsor Castle and Bagshot Park. Adam has worked for the Royal Household for 11 years, having spent 4 years at Emmanuel College, Cambridge University.
Adam will be our esteemed guide; during the autumn, his team planted 26,000 bulbs around the Castle grounds, so we can expect some stunning displays.
We shall visit particularly:
-
Jubilee Gardens: created by Tom Stuart- Smith in 2002, to mark the Golden Jubilee of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
-
Moat Gardens: the Gardens have been carved out of the dry moat around the Round Tower and has been cultivated since the 17th Century. These are the private gardens of the Castle Constable and Governor.
-
East Terrace: With its incredible views towards London, these formal gardens were created by King George IV in the 1820s. These are the private gardens of the Monarch which, in the last two years, have been completely remodelled and are now known as the Venus Terrace.
Leave with a Memento: At the conclusion of the tour, we shall visit the Castle greenhouses, where all the magic happens, and we shall have the opportunity to buy some of the Spring plants and bulbs.

The Castle is easily accessible from Windsor Station. Slough to Windsor Central, arrives at Windsor Royal Shopping Centre and then walk up to the Castle - 5 minutes.
